Assistant Professors Maria Angelica D. Abad, Rosanne Marie G. Echivarre, Bryan Q. Engay, Maria Margarita R. Lavides, Eden H. Terol, and Cristabel F. Tiangco paper, titled “Dangal as Experienced by Barangay Workers in the Context of the Pandemic,” has been published in the 16th volume of Publica: Jurnal Pemikiran Administrasi Negara, published by the Department of Public Administration Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science of the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, in collaboration with the Indonesian Association for Public Administration. 

The paper investigated the concept of dangal (dignity) among barangay workers in the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on its meaning, influencing factors, and ways to promote it. Full details may be accessed at https://journal.uinsgd.ac.id/index.php/publica/article/view/35905

Dangal has two domains: external (physiological needs and social identity) and internal (self-fulfillment in performing duties and responsibilities). Results showed that the promotion of dangal entails the provision of “remuneration, compensation, benefits, and recognition” for the external domain and “an environment that discourages corruption and supports actions that reflect honor, excellence, and integrity” for the internal domain.
