Asst. Prof. Cristabel F. Tiangco will convene the organized symposium titled “Inclusiveness in Education by Recognizing Diversity in Student Experiences” as part of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) 2024 National Convention, with the theme “60 Years of Philippine Psychology: Celebrating Glocal Milestones and Navigating Trends in Research and Practice.” The convention will take place from September 26 to 28, 2024 in Baguio City.

The symposium features two theses from the UPDEPP Applied Psychology program. Patricia Ann Pamintuan and Justinne Peig will present “Summa-Sampung Taon at Magna-Nine Years: Exploring Self-Concept and Resilience among Overstaying Undergraduate Students in the University of the Philippines.” Ana Victoria Sandique and Jean Marian Tolentino will present “Sasabay o Sasablay?: A Phenomenological Study on the Struggles and Triumphs of First-Generation College Students.”

Another UPDEPP alumna, Shaedy Dee Mallari-Lugtu, who is currently OIC-Head of Assessment, Counseling, and Placement (ACAP) Center at Systems Plus College Foundation in Angeles City, will present her paper “Transitioning from Semester to Quarter: Evaluation of Instruction, Content, and Student Learning.”

As products of the BA Applied Psychology program, the authors reflect the program’s commitment to exploring diverse psychological and educational issues and advancing psychology through research, teaching, and practice—aligning with the PAP’s core mission.
