Life in UP Clark: A community and a home

As a student at UP Clark, you will be based within the spacious 31-hectare global gateway community of Clark Freeport Zone. You will enjoy the hassle-free ride to the campus, be educated by the experience of just being with the multi-cultural population of the converted Clark Airbase, and take pride as participant in the national university's role in steering the development of the region, and the country.

We have also been working with students on what it means to create a college community here, since responsibility for a college community rests with the students as well as with the faculty and administration. Our desire is to create a nurturing community that assures the students of an atmosphere of caring and protection as they prepare themselves for adulthood and the practice of their chosen career.

Students who come from provinces other than Pampanga find a home not only in their organizations but also in the four walls of the school. The faculty and the administrative staff are genuinely concerned about student welfare. Our Guidance Office takes care of the problems of students to make them effective students. Our Learning Resource Center is a place where the students can do their assignments and discuss group work with the aid of computers. Despite the absence of a health services facility, we attend to emergency needs of our students through our partnership with CDC Clinic and the Philippine Air Force Hospital.

The partnership between the home and the school is encouraged in order to ensure the success of the students in their college education. To strengthen the partnership, we explain to the parents the policies of the unit and the university so that they could help their children abide by the rules. Students who have misbehavior problems are dealt with in the most careful manner in order to protect their rights and help them rectify their misdeeds. We inform the parents of the status of the studies of their children especially those who are having difficulties in coping with their academic program requirements.

UPDEPP College Student Council

UPDEPP has been in existence for more than three decades, and from its founding, it has envisioned itself as the region's centre of excellence, and to help this turn into a reality, its own Student Council was founded thirteen years ago. Just like with the other units and colleges in the UP System, UPDEPP's SC is represented in the University Student Council, the highest student representative body in the university, composed of members elected amongst the student body, mandated to organize and direct campaigns and activities to defend and promote students' rights, and improve the students' general welfare. It also has the proud and historic tradition of active involvement in the Filipino people's struggle for their democratic rights and interests.

UP Frontliner

Fresh from nearly ten years of hiatus, Frontliner could not have chosen a better time in rewriting its own history. Truly, it is only fitting that the efforts and desire of the university faculty and the College Editors' Guild of the Philippines in reviving UPDEPP's official campus paper have bloomed into realization right before the University of the Philippines Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga goes home to its permanent site.

Frontliner, now manned by a group of dedicated student-writers, banners the promise of fearless and critical investigations, timely and up-to-date news both locally and nationally, as well as features that help ease the often busy minds of the Iskolars ng Bayan. To top it off, FL, as it is called by UPDEPP students, aims to learn from the lesson of its past and never again stop the press that befits UP's premium on a single word, freedom. Successfully publishing its first issue after revival, there is definitely no way but up for Frontliner!
